Meet the Maker

Thank you so much for stopping by!   My name is Leslee Kane and I am the woman behind the jewelry you see here.  I am a native, actually 5th generation, Montanan.   I was born and raised in Bozeman, MT- one of the rare ones!   I attended Montana State University and ultimately decided that Medicine was my calling.   I attended the University of Washington School of Medicine before spending 6 years on active duty in the USAF.   I deployed to Afghanistan for 9 months, one of the scariest and ultimately most formative things I have ever done.

My family returned to Bozeman as soon as my commitment to the USAF ended.  I love raising my 2 children where I grew up, and practicing Family Medicine in my home town.   The snow capped mountains, rivers, and forests that surround me bring me both joy and peace.  I love being home.

In 2020 the whole world changed.   Somehow, in the tumult of the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself drawn to do something different.  I was thankful to still be working of course but found a sense of wanting to fulfill a different part of myself.   My artistic self.  So I found a class online offered by the beautiful and generous Madison of Vancrafted studio.   I was hooked from the first ring I made.  It was perfectly imperfect and I found great solace in the quiet and focus of the little makeshift bench in my basement.   In a world turned upside down it was a small sphere where I felt that everything made sense.

You should also know, I am a Deadhead (as in the Grateful Dead) -hence the name Blue Sun Jewelry.  You know, "The sky was yellow and the sun was blue" from Scarlet Begonias?  Music is another thing that brings me such joy.

In any case, here I am, eight months later launching this little project hoping that one of the pieces of jewelry I created speaks to you.  That it might bring you a little joy and beauty in this crazy world.  I have always said- Life is too short not to sparkle and no outfit is complete without a great pair of earrings.
